Getting Them Started Young

Here’s a video of my son today identifying the moon and all the planets in the solar system (except Earth). He turned two years old a month ago.

At this rate, I’ll have to send the kid to Caltech. And Caltech’s expensive, so please consider donating to his tuition fund by picking up a copy of Weird World War III.

I blame Nick Mamatas for this sales technique.

Happy Black Friday!

Wonder and Glory Forever, Edited by Weird World War III Contributor Nick Mamatas, Hits Stores Today

Weird World War III contributor, Nick Mamatas, has edited an intriguing anthology that hits stores today called Wonder and Glory Forever: Awe-Inspiring Lovecraftian Fiction. Weird World War III contributor, Erica Satifka, also has a story in it.

This is the first Lovecraftian anthology focusing on the theme of the sublime. It also has one of my favorite Clark Ashton Smith stories in it, so if that’s any indication of the book’s overall vibe, I highly encourage folks to pick up a copy today. It’s a great companion to Weird World War III. And if you haven’t picked up a copy of that yet…well…please order one by clicking on your preferred bookstore below.

Weird World War III Reviewed in Tangent

Kevin P. Hallett at Tangent Online just posted this very thoughtful review of Weird World War III today, which coincidentally is my birthday. You can check it out here.

“A fascinating way to see how different authors of speculative fiction approach a similar theme… This was an enjoyable collection of speculative fiction presenting several interesting takes on WWIII scenarios between the US and Russia. The overall quality was high.”

Weird World War III Reviewed in Analog Science Fiction and Fact Magazine

The November / December issue of Analog Science Fiction and Fact Magazine contains a nice little review of Weird World War III. You can check it out here.

“The stories go off in all directions. Torgersen’s ‘All Quiet on the Phantom Front’ involves NATO forces who cast a magic spell that goes wrong; John Langan’s ‘Second Front’ brings World War III to the Moon; Shoemaker’s ‘The Ouroboros Arrangement’ provides a quantum physics explanation for why the Cold War didn’t turn Hot. The other stories are all equally interesting, ranging from hard SF to magical fantasy to dark horror-adjacent tales.”

Nick Mamatas and Weird World War III Featured at Tachyon Publications

Yesterday, the good folks at Tachyon did a nice little feature on Nick Mamatas and Weird World War III.

You should also check out Nick Mamatas‘s The People’s Republic of Everything, published by Tachyon. I own a copy myself, and it’s damn good.
